Applied Bank is looking for a Senior Commercial Credit Analyst to perform in a leadership role in the underwriting and preparation of credit approval documentation, annual reviews of the existing portfolio, participates in the development and execution of the company's business development plans and generally supports company operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform underwriting related to new loan origination and annual reviews.
  • Determine adequate due diligence for each underwriting assignment.
  • Analyze operating and pro-forma operating statements, evaluate property cash flows, determine borrower credit quality and collateral quality, etc. as delineated by or expected from scopes of work.
  • Review and evaluate third-party reports and appraisals. Determine requirements, obtain missing files and/or missing documentation as needed and order third –party reports as requested.
  • Perform collateral analysis and site inspections.
  • Develop strong understanding of construction loan budgeting and monitoring as well as performance monitoring and collateral value impacts.
  • Identify risks and mitigants for proposed new and existing loan recommendations, including reviewing significant issues with management and clients, as appropriate.
  • Prepare written reports related to loans and collateral, recommend appropriate actions, and prepare correspondence and present results to management and/or the client.
  • Participate in the lending process, including reviewing loan closing documentation and attending closings.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance and prioritization of risk assessment/analysis, underwriting, and business development strategies to meet strategic objectives.
  • Review and manage the work product produced by others from the above activities.
  • Support consumer loan transaction underwriting as needed.
  • Engages in specialized training to support the execution of the job function.
  • Support Chief Credit Officer in various projects including but not limited to, examination and audit preparation, loan review engagements, ongoing credit / portfolio administration oversight, policy and procedural development, etc.
  • Complies with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, and the Small Business Administration.

Education & Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field desired, MBA a plus.
  • 3+ years in Commercial Credit/Underwriting; in the banking industry, preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a senior or supervisory role, required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to efficiently model in Excel.
  • Mezzanine, joint venture and equity experience is a plus.
