The Desktop Support Associate provides technical assistance to computer system users. Investigate and resolve computer software and hardware problems of users. Answer clients' inquiries in person and via telephone concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, electronic mail, network communications, applications software operation and operating systems.  Install, configure and maintain PC desktop equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs minor repairs to, installs and configures hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
  • Research technical manuals, confers with users, and conducts computer diagnostics to determine nature of problems and provide technical assistance.
  • Enters commands and observes system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
  • Tests and monitors software, hardware, and peripheral equipment to evaluate use effectiveness, and adequacy of product for user.
  • Creates production reports daily or weekly.
  • Inspects equipment and reads order sheets to prepare for delivery to users.

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree (AS) from two-year college or equivalent technical training and certification from an accredited technical institute.
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Windows NT workstation.
  • Expert knowledge in troubleshooting and diagnostics of PC hardware and software.
  • Ability to speak clearly and in terms that is understandable to users and management.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and be an effective team member.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
